Complete your Pre-Arrival Checklist.

Apply for visa icon

After you receive the electronic copy of your I-20, complete the following steps before booking your visa appointment:

  1. Schedule a free visa information and preparation session with your personal Enrollment Advisor.
  2. Check that the details on your I-20 are correct (including your date of birth) and make sure your name is the same as it appears on your passport.
  3. Prepare the documents you will need to take to the embassy when attending your visa interview.

After you complete the above steps, you should apply for your visa as soon as possible. It requires an interview with the U.S. Embassy and your scheduled appointment may be several weeks out.

  1. Complete your Visa Application.
  2. Pay your I-901 (SEVIS) fee.
  3. Visit usembassy.gov to learn more about scheduling your visa appointment, what to expect when you arrive, and the documentation you need to take with you.
  4. Notify your personal Enrollment Advisor of the date and Embassy of your visa appointment.

Submit Your Arrival Details

We are so excited for you to join us on campus! To ensure a smooth transition to your new home, plan to arrive on or before your official move-in day. Airport pickup is available Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC).

Once you book your flights, you must fill out the student arrival form. If your family is joining you, you must also complete the family arrival form.

Create Your Campus Information Services (CIS) Account

Accessing your CIS account will allow you to complete the remaining steps on this list, including submitting an photo for your Student I.D., Accessing your Umail, submitting your Immunization documents, and so forth.

Log in to cis.utah.edu using the university ID (UNID) included in your admissions letter and your default password (which is your birthdate in MMDDYY format).

Login to Your Umail

Official University email accounts, which are called Umail Accounts, are available to Utah Global students. Official University communications will be sent to students’ official University Umail address. Students are expected to check their UMail account on a frequent and consistent basis in order to stay current with University-related communication.

Go to www.umail.utah.edu and log in with your University I.D Number (uNID) and password.

Submit Your I.D Photo

All Utah Global students are required to submit an ID photo before your move-in date. Any student wo does not submit their ID photo before arrival will not be able to have their ID pre-printed and will likely not be able to use their meal plan (on-campus housing), access to buildings (on-campus housing), utilize free public transportation, and much more.

UCARD PHOTO UPLOADER

Avoid waiting in lines and submit your photo for your UCard online. It’s fast and easy! Once submitted Utah Global will pick up your UCard and distribute them to you during orientation. Do not forget to complete this as soon as you get access to CIS. Go to UCARD PHOTO UPLOADER to start! For more instructions please see the button below.

School Transcripts

All incoming undergraduate Utah Global students are required to submit official copies of the documents submitted with the initial application. There are two important documents to be submitted in-person, electronically, or by physical mail:

(6) Contact your school to send your transcript(s) and diploma to the University of Utah’s Office of International Admissions or submit your documents in-person to Utah Global during orientation.

*Keep in Mind – If you submit your transcripts and/or graduation certificate in-person it must be in an untampered envelope that has been sealed with adhesive by the school. If at any time the original envelope has been opened, whether by you or by anyone else, they will be considered unofficial.

  • If you submitted your application with an incomplete transcript while you finished 12th grade or if you had in-progress classes at a post-secondary institution, you need to submit final official transcripts with grades posted.
  • If you have any university-level education/transfer work, you will also need to submit an official transcript from this university with official English translation (if it was not originally written in English).

Transcripts

In order to be considered official, transcripts must include:

  1. Sealed with adhesive inside the school’s letterhead envelope.
  2. Sent by the school.
  3. Be in English when possible.
  4. Include all Final Grades including the date of graduation.

*Please do not send official international transcripts via email or fax as they will not be accepted as official.

If your international school uses the following electronic transcript services they will be considered official:

  • Credential Solutions
  • Parchment/Naviance
  • National Student Clearing House
  • eScrip-Safe
  • Scoir

Hard copy transcripts can be sent directly to the university by mail in a sealed envelope with adhesive to:

High School Diploma (Graduation Certificate)

If you graduated from high school, you will also need to submit your high school diploma unless the graduation date is already listed in your high school transcript. Your paperwork must include:

  • An official copy of your diploma (graduate certificate) from your school.

Submit Transfer Syllabi (Transfer Students Only)

Have you taken university-level courses at another institution? Please send us the course syllabi for all classes you hope to transfer for academic advisors to review. You may receive credit towards General Education or Major Coursework requirements. Syllabi need to be officially translated into English if they were not originally written in English.

*If you are NOT a transfer student, please skip this step.

Please email utgacademics@utah.edu with the syllabi of your university-level courses and the following:

  • Your first and last name (you given name and surname)
  • U of U ID number
  • Intended Major and/or Minor

 

 

 

You may include concurrent coursework (courses took at a university while you were still attending high school/secondary school) or courses you took at another university before transferring to the U of U.

Immunization & COVID-19

Complete this mandatory health and immunization requirement prior to your arrival. Bring your immunization and COVID-19 documents with you when you arrive to campus. Required Math Placement Examinations

All incoming undergraduate Utah Global students are required to take a math placement test (ALEKS) before leaving their home country. Students must take ALEKS before arriving at the University of Utah.

Please follow these steps:
Step 1: View the following three instructional videos of how to access ALEKS
You have five chances to take this exam, and some of these can be used as practice scores. The highest score taken by the testing deadline will be used for math placement.

*Additionally, if you have taken the SAT or ACT exam(s), you may be exempt from taking ALEKS. Your score(s) must be less than 2 years old and sent directly from the links below. Test scores cannot be accepted via a high school transcript.
If you have taken the SAT or ACT in the last 2 years, please follow these steps to log into:
  • Your SAT account: SAT Login
  • For the SAT, use the number 4853 for the University of Utah
  • Your ACT account: ACT Login
  • For the ACT, use the number 4274 for the University of Utah
Once your scores have been sent, email us a screenshot or an email confirmation of your request at utgacademics@utah.edu

Pay Your Tuition and Fees

Making your payment in full two weeks before you arrive will help avoid delays with enrollment.

To submit payment for tuition and fees:

  • Flywire by Peer Transfer: Please visit the University of Utah’s flywire portal to complete the transfer process. Please note that you cannot use a U.S. credit card or U.S. bank account.

 

*If your balance as outlined on your Statement of Fees or in your payment plan is not paid by the payment deadline, you will be un-enrolled in all your classes.
